BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – Baker University sophomore pitcher Olivia Brees and junior infielder Stephanie Cardona earned spots on the 2017 Heart of America Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference teams, announced on Monday.
Brees also earned the coveted Gold Glove award, as the only pitcher from the Heart to do so.
The Meriden, Kansas native broke Baker's school record for strikeouts in a season with 300 in 2017 and she led the conference in opponent batting average at .177. She allowed just 130 hits against 734 total batters.
Her 1.43 ERA was second in the Heart and her 201.1 innings pitched is 12th most in the NAIA.

She also walked 24 times, good for second on the team and posted a team-high slugging-percentage of .612.
Cardona was named to the Second Team All-Conference a year ago, while Brees was an Honorable Mention All-Conference performer in 2016.
Baker finished the season with 27 wins on the year, the most by a Baker team since the 2011 squad, that went 31-21.
