BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – 11 members of the Baker University outdoor track & field program will travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama this week to compete in the 2017 NAIA Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
The 68th Annual Men's and 37th Annual Women's National Championship will be held May 25-27 at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
The 11 athletes to compete this week are Gloria Mares (100 and 200 meter dash), Kendal Holloman (pole vault), Brenda McCollum (5,000m race walk), Caitlin Apollo (5,000m race walk), Bailey Horlander (Marathon), Cory Peoples (shot put and hammer throw), Matt Bush (pole vault), Birdsong Warren (400m race), Avery Parker (triple jump), Joe Linder (Marathon) and Greg Flores (Marathon).
The multi-events kick off the NAIA National Championships on May 25 with the men's decathlon at 10 a.m. CDT. In the women's heptathlon, events get started at 10:30 a.m. Opening Ceremonies are scheduled for 2 p.m. on May 25 and precede trials of the relays.
