BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – The Baker University volleyball program will host NCAA Division II William Jewell College on Wednesday, Aug. 23 in an exhibition match at 7 p.m. inside the Collins Center, as part of the Wildcat-Cardinal Classic that will also benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The former conference foes will team up to raise funds for St. Jude's, as all gate proceeds will be donated and any additional donations made that evening.
As always, Baker students with valid Baker ID will be admitted Free to the event, but a donation to St. Jude's would be much appreciated!
"We are extremely excited to welcome William Jewel volleyball back to the Collins Center," said Baker head volleyball coach Matt Windle. "This last spring we had a spirited scrimmage that should produce some very high quality volleyball in front of, what we hope is, a capacity crowd. To double down, we have decided to make this match our Wildcat-Cardinal Classic for St. Jude. All gate proceeds and any donations will go towards the good people at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A little friendly competition to raise funds and awareness. Should be just a great night overall!"
The event will continue to help St. Jude Children's Research Hospital continue to lead the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Current Miss Kansas, Catherine Jamison, will also be in attendance at the game. You may visit her at a table in the front entrance of the Collins Center where she will be signing autographs. Jamison also played volleyball at the University of Kansas.
Your fundraising efforts help ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
