Four Wildcats Earn Heart All-Conference Recognition

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker baseball had four players receive conference postseason honors as the league announced its 2025 Heart of America Conference All-Conference Teams and award winners yesterday.

Camden Karlin and Jackson Truman were both all-conference selections with Karlin being named to the All-Heart First Team and Truman landing on the All-Heart Second Team. The Wildcats also had a pair of Gold Glove honorees in Javier Aguirre and Brennan Johnson.

It's the second postseason recognition for Karlin, who earned an honorable mention nod in 2022 as a freshman. The junior from Lawrence, Kan. led the Wildcats in hits (60), doubles (18), RBI (41) and home runs (11), while nearly hitting a .400 average (.396) for the regular season. The two-way player also made 11 pitching appearances and finished with a 3-2 record in his six starts and earned a save.

In his first season at BU since transferring from Emporia State, Truman posted a .371 batting average for the regular season with 38 hits, 23 RBI, five doubles, two home runs and 20 walks. The sophomore transfer from Lee' Summit, Mo. racked up a season-high six RBI and had a multi-home run game against Clarke in a home conference series in early April.

Playing in 36 games at second base this year, Aguirre finished with a .990 fielding percentage in conference games with 15 double plays turned and just one error attributed to the senior from Scottsdale, Ariz.

Johnson, a senior from Topeka, Kan., played in over 40 games while manning centerfield for the 'Cats. He totaled 53 putouts with four assists and didn't have an error in his 29 games against conference opponents.

As the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament, Baker avoided elimination with a 5-4 victory over Clarke in the consolation bracket of the 2025 Heart Baseball Conference Tournament yesterday. The Wildcats will now face No. 5 Park at 1:30 p.m. later today (May 3) in Ozark, Mo.
