Karlin Earns Heart Player of the Week Honors
BALDWIN CITY - Camden Karlin of the Baker baseball team took home this week's Heart Baseball Player of the Week award, following his performance in the Wildcats' home-opening sweep of Morningside last week.
Karlin went 4-for-6 with two home runs and three RBI in the sweep over a Mustangs team that was 7-1 coming into the matchup. Karlin's two-run shot in the first game provided the insurance he needed on the mound, earning his first win of the season after allowing just one run and recording seven strikeouts in his six innings of work. He opened up BU's 8-4 victory in game two with a leadoff homer in the first inning.
The senior from Lawrence, Kan., was named an NAIA Preseason All-American prior to the season and has started off his spring by leading the team with a .550 average (11-for-20), three home runs and six RBI through the first six games.
With a three-game winning streak, Karlin and the Wildcats will return to action this weekend, hosting a four-game series against Viterbo that starts on Friday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m., and concludes with Saturday's (Feb. 28) doubleheader at 1 p.m. at Sauder Field.
