Wildcats Cheer and Dance Teams Sweep Baker Battle

BALDWIN CITY - In the second of their two home regular-season competitions, the Baker cheer and dance teams each came away with the top scores to sweep the Wildcats' Baker Battle on Wednesday night in the Collins Center.

The BU dance team marked a score of 84.41 to finish atop the three-team field that included second-place Saint Mary (73.29) and third-place Ottawa (72.62). Winning their first team title of the season, the Wildcats have now finished in the top two in four of their five competitions this year with runner-up outings at the Falcon Invite, Coyote Classic and Baker Classic.

The Baker cheer squad earned a score of 84.33 to place first among two separate Allen County CC teams. It was BU cheer's second first-place performance of the year after the Wildcats won the MNU Invitational a couple of weeks ago in Olathe, Kan.

Up next, the Baker dance team will compete this weekend at the Innovative Open on Sunday, March 8, with the Wildcats' first performance scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. at Olathe East HS in Olathe.

Meanwhile, Baker cheer will be back in action next at the 2026 Heart Cheer Championships, which is set for March 14 in Des Moines, Iowa.
