Alyssa Waller Named Heart of America Dancer of the Week
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - After strong performances by the Baker dance team this weekend, Alyssa Waller has been named this week's Heart of America Dancer of the Week.
Waller and the Wildcats competed at the Bethel College Thresher Invitational last week.
The Wildcats placed third overall in the event and competed in two rounds.
In Round 1, Baker faced Oklahoma City, St. Ambrose, Midland, University of St. Francis, Madonna, Kansas Wesleyan, Bethel, Columbia, Ottawa, Southwestern and Bethany. The Wildcats finished with a score of 88.77 to place second in that round.
Then in Round 2, Baker faced St. Ambrose, Oklahoma City, Midland, Kansas Wesleyan, Madonna, University of St. Francis, Bethel and Southwestern. In that round Baker earned a score of 89.13 to place third overall.
Waller and her teammates will next compete at the MNU Invitational on Feb. 10 in Olathe, Kansas.
In order to nominate a dancer for the Heart Dancer of the Week, the Heart competitive dance team that earns the highest score during a competition for the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5 is eligible for the Heart Dancer of the Week award.
The team with the highest score will select one dancer from their team and that dancer will garner the award.
