Baker Dance Competes at Viking Challenge

DES MOINES, Iowa - After back-to-back runner-up finishes to open the year, the Baker dance team continued its 2026 competition season on Sunday, taking part in the Viking Challenge, hosted by Grand View.

With the event featuring two rounds of competition and nine total teams, the Wildcats placed fifth in both, posting an 85.04 in the opening round before improving to an 86.88 in their second performance.

Baker's marks rounded out the top five as the host Vikings captured the first round with a 97.98. Round one runner-up Saint Ambrose traded spots with GVU after recording the top score of the day at 98.42 in the second round.

Up next, the Baker cheer and dance teams will play host to their first home competition of the season with the 2026 Baker Classic, which is set for Saturday, Feb. 21, starting at 1 p.m. in the Collins Center.
