Sims, Stevenson Invited to National Bowl All-Star Game
MIAMI, Fla. - Baker University senior defensive back's Duane Sims and Mike Stevenson have been invited to play in the 5th Annual National Bowl Game, a showcase of the country's best NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA football players.
The game will take place on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. at Ocean Bank Field inside the Florida International University Stadium in Miami, Fla.
The National Bowl is the elite and only current postseason all-star game to focus on players below the NCAA FBS and FCS level. The bowl is presented by East Preps LLC and was founded by Michael Quartey. For a look at the bowl game website, please click here.
The game will also be coached by professional coaches and will be split up by the Red Nation and Blue Nation teams.
Both Sims and Stevenson will be playing for the Red Nation team and will be coached by Arena Football League coach Kevin O'Hanlon of the Trenton Freedom, while the Blue Nation will be led by Brian Ferguson of the AFL's Jacksonville Sharks.
The contest already has scouts from several NFL confirmed to attend including the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers.
"This is a nice opportunity for both Mike and Duane to open some eyes for the next level," said Baker head football coach Mike Grossner. "They both have potential to further their careers in the Canadian Football League, or the Arena Football League, or overseas football. This is a great way to finish their college careers."
