Metcalfe Earns Conference Defensive Player of the Week Honors
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker junior safety Thad Metcalfe was named the Heart of America's Big Game Football Defensive Player of the Week, following his performance in the Wildcats' 45-42 victory over No. 25 Graceland on Saturday.
Metcalfe recorded a team-high nine tackles and scored a defensive touchdown in Baker's first top-25 win of the year. With the score tied at 21-21 late in the second quarter, Metcalfe picked off a Yellowjackets pass and took it 40 yards to the house to provide a huge momentum swing for BU right before halftime.
The Grantville, Kan. product has tallied 21 tackles and two interceptions in his junior campaign to help lead a Baker defense that has forced nine turnovers and 12 sacks this season. The eight interceptions registered by the BU secondary ranks eighth overall in the nation.
With a 3-1 record, (RV) Baker travels to Canton, Mo. to take on Culver-Stockton on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 12 p.m.
