Homecoming Matchup Against Culver-Stockton On Tap for No. 17 Baker

BALDWIN CITY – Looking to start 3-0 for the first time since 2020, No. 17 Baker hosts Culver-Stockton for a cross-divisional matchup on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. at Don Parker Field and Liston Stadium as a part of BU's Homecoming weekend.

The Wildcats are coming off their first road test of the season with a 43-21 victory over William Penn last Saturday. Truman Juelsgaard threw for over 250 yards (261) and four touchdowns, while leading a BU rushing attack that racked up 242 yards in the game with a team-high 86 yards.

Freshman wide receiver Gaige Warren had a breakout performance with three touchdowns and kicker Seth Simpson went 3-for-3 on field goals, including a 46-yard boot that almost matched his career-long of 47 yards.

Juelsgaard garnered Heart Offensive Player of the Week honors for his outing against the Statesmen, giving the Wildcats their second straight conference weekly award after PJ McCallop Jr. was named Heart Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 1.

Culver-Stockton comes into the game with an 0-3 record overall, falling in overtime at Missouri Baptist, 44-37 last week in St. Louis. C-SC let a 37-15 fourth-quarter lead slip with the Spartans scoring three times in the final eight minutes of regulation and then holding on in overtime.

C-SC averages over 150 rushing yards per game (154.0) with Demarion Cobb leading the team in rushing with 173 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Drake Day has thrown for at least 250 yards in two of his three games this year with his top-target Kyle Dixon hauling in 15 catches for 391 yards and three touchdowns so far this season.

Saturday's matchup will be the 44th meeting between the two teams with Baker dominating the all-time series with a 39-4 record against the Heart's other Wildcats. Last year, BU won 38-7 out in Canton, Mo. with its defense recording a pair of pick-sixes, including one from Deshon Lewis II.

With football kickoff being moved up to 11 a.m., Baker Athletics will host a total of four events for Saturday's Homecoming festivities beginning with volleyball at 10 a.m. in the Collins Center, followed by football, then women's and men's soccer closing things out at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Hartley Field.

Fans can purchase an advanced ticket for the game via HomeTown Ticketing.

A live stream of the game can be found on The Heart Conference Network with "Voice of the Wildcats" Derek Johnson calling the action. Live stats for the game are available here.
