Simpson Bags Second Straight Heart Special Teams Player of the Week Award
BALDWIN CITY - For the second straight week, Baker kicker Seth Simpson was named Heart Special Teams Player of the Week, presented by Musco, after his performance in the Wildcats' 67-28 win on the road at William Woods on Saturday.
Simpson went a perfect 11-for-11 on his kicks on Saturday against the Owls, drilling three field goals, including a 44-yarder late in the third quarter, and converting all eight of his extra-point attempts.
The junior from Lee's Summit, Mo. has been automatic in his three seasons as BU's kicker, especially the past two where he's now gone 31-for-36 (86%) on field goals. Last year, he went a perfect 54-for-54 on extra-point attempts and has only missed two of 107 PATs in his career.
Earning his second one, Simpson gives the Wildcats a total of five conference player of the week awards with the three others coming from teammates PJ McCallop Jr. (Week 2, Special Teams), Truman Juelsgaard (Week 3, Offense) and Canon Karn (Week 4, Defense), who all previously earned the recognition.
Simpson and the Wildcats return home to take on Central Methodist on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at Don Parker Field and Liston Stadium. The Wildcats will honor the 1986 football team as Baker's inaugural Team of Distinction.
