Homecoming Matchup Against Owls On Deck for Wildcats

BALDWIN CITY – Coming off a big win on the road, Baker football returns to Liston Stadium to host a Homecoming matchup against William Woods on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m.

Last week, the Wildcats came away with a 38-28 victory over Missouri Valley in Marshall, Mo. for BU's first win of the fall. A high-scoring second quarter saw Baker take a 24-17 lead at halftime before holding on with a huge eight-minute drive in the fourth quarter to seal the road win.

Baker posted its best game of the season, racking up 406 yards of total offense with 214 of that coming on the ground. Gabe Martin (87) and Gavin Fellingham (83) led an efficient rushing attack for BU and each finished with over 80 yards on the ground. Martin scored a pair of touchdowns to give him a total of four this year, while Fellingham found the end zone for the first time this season.

Led by Martin, Fellingham and quarterback Truman Juelsgaard, the Wildcats are averaging over 150 rushing yards per game with their two best outings coming on the road. BU totaled 190 yards on the ground in the season opener at Peru State before putting up the season-high mark (214) in Marshall last weekend.

William Woods comes into the matchup still looking for its first win of the season at 0-5. WWU fell in its first Heart South game last week, suffering a 52-24 loss at home against Central Methodist.

The Owls are allowing 59 points per game with four of their five opponents scoring at least 50 points against them. Offensively, they are averaging 327 yards per game with most of that coming via the air where they average over 260 yards per game. Quarterback Clayton Byer is 72-for-143 passing this year with 866 yards and six touchdowns.

This will be just the second all-time meeting between the two programs after facing each other for the first time last year. Baker defeated William Woods, 67-28 in last year's matchup in Fulton, Mo.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for 1 p.m. from Liston Stadium and Don Parker Field. A free live stream of the game can be found on the Urban Edge Network. Live stats will be available here.
