Perez Named to Coaching Staff for USA Football Adult Men’s National Team
INDIANAPOLIS - On the heels of the Wildcats' 2025 season opener, Baker women's flag football head coach Willy Perez was selected as an assistant coach for the 2025 USA Flag Football Adult Men's National Team, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Perez, who has served as the head coach for USA Football's Girls 15U team since 2023, joins the coaching staff and will help lead the team as they prepare for qualification for the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Los Angeles.
With over 20 years of playing experience in flag football, Perez originally came to Baker after boasting a highly-successful career as a quarterback that includes both national and world championships as well as being a finalist for the 2022 US National Team. In 2021, he won the FFWCT 35 and Over World Championship in both 4 and 5 Man formats with the championships being played in Panama City.
As head coach, Perez led the USA Football Girls 15U National team to their second straight gold medal at the 2024 Junior International Cup this past July. He was also a part of the coaching staff for the inaugural Under Armour Next All-America Girl's Flag Football Game, which took place back in early January in Orlando, Fla.
Entering the program's second year of competition, Perez and the rest of the BU women's flag football team are scheduled to open their 2025 season with a preseason tournament at Ottawa on Sunday, February 23.
The Wildcats will face the Braves at 9 a.m., followed by Midland at 1:30 p.m. before closing out against Kansas Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m.
