Wildcats Blow Out Spires, Mark 5-0 Start to 2026 Season
BALDWIN CITY - Coming off three dominant wins in Arizona, Baker women's flag football earned its fifth straight victory at home on Wednesday night, rolling past Saint Mary, 52-0, in Liston Stadium.
The Wildcats scored 25 points in the first half and matched their scoring output in the second half, but with a two-point conversion mix in there, to mark a 5-0 start to the 2026 season for BU.
Seven different players contributed to the scoring plays, led by quarterback Tara Llorente, who tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the first quarter before adding a rushing one in secord quarter to give Baker a 19-0 lead.
Llorente almost had a second rushing touchdown late in the second quarter, but lateraled to teammate Mahagonay Simmons near the goal line, who was able to take it in the rest of the way to cap a 25-0 first half.
In the second half, Kaley Phillips hauled in two touchdown catches with her first one coming early in the third quarter on a big 35-yard bomb from Llorente. After Ava Alvarez punched in one from seven-yards out, Phillips tacked on her second touchdown grab, making a few defenders miss on the pass from Sanija Waller.
Freshman Jaidyn Keith closed out the Wildcats' highest-scoring outing of the season with one final touchdown late in the fourth quarter to seal the 52-0 victory.
With a 5-0 start, the Wildcats have outscored their opponents 222-27 this season with three shutouts pitched by the BU defense, while the offense has scored over 40 points in all but one game.
Baker will continue the homestand next week by welcoming defending national champions Ottawa to Liston Stadium for a KCAC matchup on Wednesday, March 11, at 6 p.m.
