Canals, Waller Sweep KCAC Player of the Week Awards
BALDWIN CITY - Daniela Canals and Sanija Waller of the Baker women's flag football team both earned KCAC Player of the Week honors following their performances in back-to-back wins for the Wildcats last week.
Waller took home the Offensive Player of the Week award after racking up a total of nine touchdowns between the two victories. The junior from Tallahassee, Fla., threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another in a big 31-6 win over No. 6 Kansas Wesleyan at home on March 17. She turned around and scored six times on the road in a 50-0 blowout at Hesston the very next day (March 18).
Canals was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording two interceptions and 18 tackles between the two victories. The freshman from Miami, Fla., leads the team with 53 tackles on the year and has tallied three interceptions and four pass break-ups.
After having a little break, the Wildcats return to action tonight (March 25) to take on William Woods in a KCAC road matchup starting at 6 p.m. in Fulton, Mo.
