Wildcats Hand CMU First Home Loss of the Season with 90-80 Win on Monday

FAYETTE, Mo. – Picking up a nice bounce back win, the Baker men's basketball team defeated Central Methodist on Monday evening 90-80, handing the Eagles their first home loss of the season.

Quentin Harvey played a team-high 30 minutes in the game, while also scoring a team-high 21 points. Jalen Patterson scored 18 points on the night while Noah Rigatuso added 16 points off the bench. Both Korey Jones and Braden Wiggs also reached double figures, scoring 12 and 10 points respectively.

Neither team could gain a lead larger than three points early in the game. With Baker trailing 19-17, the Wildcats held CMU without a field goal for the next six minutes as Baker took the lead and made it 28-23 with 7:31 to play in the first half.

After CMU regained the lead, the Wildcats put together another run and pulled out to a 41-34 lead with 2:10 left in the first half, forcing the Eagles to take a timeout. Baker held onto their lead for the rest of the half and took a 43-39 lead into the locker room.

About six minutes into the second half, Baker extended their lead to double digits on a bucket from Rigatuso. Every time the Eagles tried to put together another run, the Wildcats would hit a big shot and the closest CMU would get is seven points as Baker went on to win the game by 10, 90-80.

Baker is now 20-6 on the season and 15-5 in Heart of America play. They will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 15, when they host No. 7 William Penn at 7:30 p.m., inside the Collins Center.
