Baker Bowling Closes Out 2025 Strong at Vegas Tournaments
LAS VEGAS - Making their annual trip to Las Vegas, the Baker men's and women's bowling teams posted strong results at a pair of tournaments to close out the year, competing at the Glenn Carlson Invite (Dec. 18-19) and Collegiate Shootout (Dec. 20-21).
In the first tournament of the trip, the Wildcat men advanced to match play of the Glenn Carlson Invite after finishing the qualifying round in 12th out of 60 teams. After winning the first game, BU fell in the best-of-five matchup against Webber International in the first round of match play.
Pedro Diaz-Gonzalez led the team with a 218.1 average and placed 18th individually out of a field of nearly 500 bowlers (498). Josh King earned a top-50 finish as well, finishing with a 209 average in his first outing of the week.
The BU women finished the Glenn Carlson tournament in 29th out of a 42-team field, tallying just enough pins (6593) to finish above Ohio State (6578), who came in 30th. Majayla Boyd led the women's side with a 184 average, which placed her 50th individually. Skyler Holmes came in 87th with an eight-game average of 172.25.
The Wildcats closed out their time in Las Vegas with the Collegiate Shootout, where the BU women's team placed 23rd overall, while the Baker men's squad took 25th. Additionally, the Baker men's junior varsity team claimed first place in their division, totaling a score of 7,895 to earn top honors in the tournament.
Diaz-Gonzalez improved on his performance from the Glenn Carlson and turned in a seventh-place finish with an average of 233. His best score came in the final round of his five-game set, rolling a 265 to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Coltyn Silva from the JV squad placed 13th after racking up 1,131 pins.
Holmes added a top-15 finish in the women's individual results of the Collegiate Shootout, averaging 195.2 pins with her best round coming in the fourth game, where she shot a 255. Boyd took 26th with an average of 192.
Baker will begin the 2026 portion of its schedule later this month, competing at Avila's Eagle Invite on January 24-25 at Aaron's Family Fun Center in Belton, Mo.
