Dines Set for 2025 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship
SILVIS, Ill. – As the Heart of America Conference's individual champion, Baker men's golfer Gavin Dines will compete in the 2025 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship this week with the national tournament being played at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. on May 20-23.
Dines will be one of the 11 individual qualifiers in action this week, joining a total of 29 teams to make up the NAIA field. Dines qualified for the tournament as an individual after claiming the Heart individual championship on a one-hole playoff back in April.
In his second season at BU, Dines swept the conference's two tournaments with a first-place finish at Heart Preview in the fall before winning his spring individual title. Overall, he earned Heart Men's Golfer of the Week honors four times this season and added a first-place showing at the Hesston Spring Shootout, where he set the program's individual 54-hole record with a score of 209. Last week, he was named to the 2025 NAIA PING All-Region team.
The sophomore from Olathe, Kan. becomes the second national qualifier in the past three years for head coach Chris Gilbert and the Wildcats after former BU women's golfer Mia Tovkach made it to the NAIA tournament in 2023. Tovkach punched her ticket to nationals in similar fashion to Dines with a playoff putt in the 2023 Heart Championship that secured her both the individual conference title and a spot in the national tournament.
Dines opens up the NAIA Championship on Tuesday, May 20 at 1:50 p.m. before returning to the course on Wednesday with his second-round tee time set for 8:30 a.m. After two full rounds have been completed, the field will be cut, reducing the field to the top 15 teams (plus ties) and six individuals who have not already made the cut with their teams (plus ties). The final two rounds will be played on Thursday and Friday.
Unofficial live scoring will be available on Clippd.
