Villegas Earns Heart Defensive Player of the Week Honors

BALDWIN CITY - Goalkeeper Christian Villegas of the Baker men's soccer team was named Heart Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, presented by WinWon, following his performance in the Wildcats' victories over No. 10 MidAmerica Nazarene and Culver-Stockton last week.

Villegas shut out a top-10 team in MNU on Wednesday, recording four saves in a thrilling 1-0 win for the Wildcats. He added his second straight clean sheet on Saturday in Baker's 2-0 Homecoming victory over C-SC.

The senior from Kansas City, Kan. has started eight matches, tallied 27 saves and earned three shutouts this season with two of his clean sheets coming against a ranked opponent after blanking No. 23 Union in the season opener.

Villegas and the Wildcats will host their final non-conference match of the regular season with a game against Mission University set for Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. out at Hartley Field.
