Villegas Named NAIA Defensive Player of the Week

BALDWIN CITY - After earning conference honors yesterday, goalkeeper Christian Villegas of the Baker men's soccer team was selected NAIA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Wildcats' victories over No. 10 MidAmerica Nazarene and Culver-Stockton last week.

Villegas shut out a top-10 team in MNU on Wednesday, recording four saves in a thrilling 1-0 win for the Wildcats. He added his second straight clean sheet on Saturday in Baker's 2-0 Homecoming victory over C-SC.

The senior from Kansas City, Kan. has started eight matches, tallied 27 saves and earned three shutouts this season with two of his clean sheets coming against a ranked opponent after blanking No. 23 Union in the season opener.

Villegas and the Wildcats will host their final non-conference match of the regular season with a game against Mission University set for tonight (Sept. 24) at 7 p.m. out at Hartley Field.
