Bolden Bags a Pair of Titles, Wildcats Compete at Jayhawk Classic
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Baker men's and women's track and field teams continued its indoor season at the Jayhawk Classic on Friday with the Wildcats earning 14 top-six finishes at the meet, hosted by Kansas.
Trevor Bolden won a pair of event titles – his first of the season – with winning times of 22.67 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 51.46 seconds in the 400-meter dash. Tavius Woodall placed second in the afternoon session of the 200m (22.31) and supplied Baker another top-five finish in the men's 400m after taking fifth on a season-best time (51.79). In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Tajanique Bell placed fourth after sprinting to a time of 8.79 seconds in the finals.
In the men's 800-meter race, Luke Persson earned third place with his two-lap time of 2:08.94. Lauren Havlik ran a 1:07.89 and placed sixth in the morning session of the 400-meter dash, while Naomi Kilson recorded a 1:08.72 and finished eighth in the afternoon race.
Brooke Allen's fourth-place outing in the 3,000-meter run highlighted the distance runners for Baker as she ran a season-high time of 11:13.43, while teammates Haley Carter (11:37.43) and Jana Landreth (11:49.50) finished closely behind in sixth and seventh, respectively. In the men's 3,000m, Zain Kahn (9:34.96), Jaden Vohs (9:42.79) and Christopher Jackson (9:50.13) finished No. 6-8. Adriel Hinojos ran his fastest mile time of the season with a 4:40.07 to place fifth in the event. Samantha Slife (3:30.53) added a fifth-place performance in the women's 1,000-meter run.
In the field events, Darrell Alleyene earned fourth place in the men's triple jump with a mark of 12.72 meters. Jayson Brown, Quinn Nichols and Tyler Chaffee finished consecutively in the men's shot put with Brown's toss of 13.22 meters pacing the group and securing him sixth place, followed by Nichols (13.07m) and Chaffee (12.59m). In the weight throw, Gage Hiebert took sixth in the men's event with a season-best mark of 14.02 meters, while Colbie Fairley (13.96m) came in seventh on the women's side.
Up next, the Wildcats will head to Topeka, Kan. to compete in the Washburn Open on Feb. 3-4.
