Softball Staff Named NFCA Region V Coaching Staff of the Year

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Following a tremendous season, the Baker softball coaching staff has been named the NFCA Region V Coaching Staff of the Year.

In her fourth season as head coach, Dana Goss and assistants Alexis Reed and Steve Keel helped Baker softball earn the program's first trip to the NAIA World Series in 2023, winning the Baldwin City Opening Round. Baker also had a share of the Heart of America Conference regular season championship.

Reaching as high as No. 4 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, the Wildcats tied a school record with 47 wins, posting an overall season record of 47-12. Baker ranked in the top-10 in the country in 10 different categories including ranking first in batting average against (.172) and shutouts (22), while ranking second in earned run average (1.27), caught stealing (34) and hit by pitch (60).

This coaching staff coached eight all-conference players and also had Kira Baker earn Freshman of the Year honors, while Kerstyn Finch earned Newomer of the Year honors.
