Women’s Soccer Falls at Home to No. 18 MNU

BALDWIN CITY - After a 3-0 victory in its first match of Heart play on Saturday, Baker women's soccer fell to No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene, 9-0 here Wednesday evening in Baldwin City.

The undefeated Pioneers, who came into the night with 10 goals in their previous three matches, nearly doubled that number against BU with four goals in the first half, followed by a five-goal second half.

MNU's Emily Carrasco and Thayline Teixeira each recorded a brace with Carrasco opening the scoring in the sixth minute, while Teixeira had the final two goals of the first half. After MNU scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half, Carrasco added her second score with a goal in the 80th minute.

The Pioneers tacked on their final two goals in the 86th and 88th.

With two shots in the first half, Baker came back with four attempts in the second half with Sidney Claeys and Emeil Bennett registering the only shots on goal for BU with one apiece. Emma Schieber tallied three shots in the match with all of them coming from outside the box.

Up next, Baker will host the second leg of its three-game homestand with a Homecoming matchup against Culver-Stockton on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. at Hartley Field.
