Wildcats Strike First, Fall to #13 MNU, 4-1

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Coming off a win earlier in the week, the Baker women's soccer team started Conference play on Saturday with a 4-1 loss to No. 13 MidAmerica Nazarene.

Baker was able to score the first goal of the game, but then gave up four unanswered as the Pioneers came away with the win. Sophia Holloway made 11 saves in the game including saving a penalty kick.

Just over two minutes into the game, Naomi Harris-Hyche was able to get around the keeper and tap it in after a pass from Stella Jameson, giving the Wildcats the momentum they were looking for over MNU.

With just over 10 minutes left in the half, MNU was able to tie it at one before the game went to halftime as a tie. Coming out of the locker room, the Pioneers tacked on two quick goals before closing the game with a couple minutes left in the game, as Baker fell at home, 4-1.

The Wildcats are now 1-3-1 on the season and sit at 0-1 in Heart play. The Wildcats will be in action again on Wednesday, Sept. 10, when they travel to Fulton, Mo., to take on William Woods at 5 p.m.
