Wildcats Finish Off Indoor Regular Season at Ichabod Invite
TOPEKA, Kan. - The Baker men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their 2025-26 indoor regular season by competing at the Ichabod Invite, hosted by Washburn, this past weekend.
With just a small group competing in the regular-season finale in Topeka, Kan., the Wildcats posted strong results overall and had multiple athletes turn in season-best marks in the final tune-up before next week's Heart meet.
Trot Wood recorded his fastest time of the season in the 400-meter dash, clocking a 49.63 to place 21st in the event and finish under the 50-second mark for the first time since last year's conference championship. Wood's time, currently, ranks eighth-best among the Heart this season.
Senior Julie Coffey had an excellent outing in her final regular-season indoor meet, setting two career-best records in the shot put and weight throw. Coffey marked a throw of 11.47 meters and took 18th in the shot put on Friday before turning around and hitting a 12.84-meter toss in Saturday's weight throw, which placed her 27th.
Competing in her first meet of the season, newcomer Steph Thomas finished close behind teammate Coffey in the shot put after her best distance came at 10.82 meters, giving the Wildcats two top-22 finishes in the field event.
The BU women's 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Haylei Potter, Makenna Longacre, Natalie Kennedy and Ashby Graham registered a combined time of 4:11.09 and came in 12th.
Luke Persson and Jacob McGlasson of the Baker distance group on the men's side each logged their fastest times of the year in the 800m. Persson (2:01.20) finished nearly right at the two-minute mark and placed 51st, while McGlasson (2:04.68) crossed just three spots behind him in 54th.
Jaden Vohs (4:53.88) ran under the five-minute mark in the mile, nearly matching his pace from the Coach Alsup Invite (4:53.15) back in mid-January.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Eithan Kodger recorded the fastest time in his two seasons at BU, coming in at 9.16 seconds and finishing in 27th. Teammate Caden Cohee (9.22) came in right behind Kodger in 28th.
With the indoor regular season coming to a close, Baker will now turn its attention to the 2025-26 Heart of America Conference Championships, which are scheduled for Feb. 20-21 in Maryville, Mo.
