Coffey’s National Qualifier Highlights Wildcats’ Trip to Mule Relays

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Baker track and field had its first student-athlete qualify for outdoor nationals this season with Julie Coffey earning a spot in the women's javelin after clearing the NAIA 'B' standard at the Mule Relays on Friday.

Coffey, a senior from Indianola, Iowa, set a personal best in the javelin with a distance of 41.30 meters on her final throw of the prelims to secure her first trip to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The mark placed her eighth overall in the event and sits as the second-best throw among the conference this season.

CarVelle Jones had a solid outing in Warrensburg, Mo. as well with a pair of top-eight finishes in the horizontal jumps. Jones took fifth in the men's triple jump with a jump of 13.81m and came in eighth in the long jump with his furthest distance coming at 6.73m.

Making his first outdoor appearance since working back from an injury, Trot Wood ran a 49.03 and placed ninth in the 400-meter dash. Londyn Cage went 16.18 and finished in 15th place in the 100-meter hurdles, while PJ McCallop clocked an 11.07 in the prelims of the 100m.

Jaden Vohs competed in a couple of races at the Central Missouri meet, recording a time of 4:15.85 in the 1,500m and a 2:04.68 in the 800m.

Kameron Glasper also had a busy day in the field events with an 18th-place finish in the discus (45.26m) highlighting his outing. He marked a personal best in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.96 meters. Marta Piantanida competed in the women's discus, placing 20th overall on a throw of 38.58m.

With the outdoor regular season winding down, Baker will be in action next at the 2025 Kansas Relays, which take place on April 17-19 at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan.
