Baker Track & Field Competes at Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Heading into the home stretch of the outdoor regular season, the Baker track and field teams competed at the 102nd Kansas Relays, held at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan. this past weekend.

The Wildcats had a fifth-place performance from Alexis Summers in the women's 100-meter dash with Summers clocking a personal-best 12.17 in the event finals on Saturday. Her time from KU sits as the third fastest in the conference this season.

Both of the BU 4x800-meter relay teams turned in top-three conference times with the women's squad of Rachel Sterner, Natalie Kennedy, Peyton Peterson and Jana Landreth finishing in eighth on a time of 10:20.45. The men's team - Jaden Vohs, Wyatt Allen, Cutter Meade and Jacob McGlasson - ran an 8:15.96 and took 13th.

Rachel Sterner recorded her fastest 800m time of the outdoor season with a 2:24.84, which placed her eighth overall. Three Wildcats finished in the top seven in the women's 10K with Haley Carter (41:38.58) and Kristi Chambers (42:07.82) going back-to-back in fourth and fifth, respectively, while Ellie Barnard (42:49.42) followed in seventh with her fastest time of the spring.

Freshman Michael Knaussman came in fourth in the men's 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:24.62. Caleb Nelson placed 11th in the javelin with his furthest distance coming at 53.89 meters. CarVelle Jones went 13.54 meters in the triple jump and took 15th.

Up next, Baker hosts its final meet of the regular season with the 2025 ZK Invite on Saturday, April 26 at Liston Stadium. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. that morning.
