Coffey Set for Return Trip to NAIA Outdoor Championships
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Making her second straight trip to Nationals, Julie Coffey will represent Baker track and field at the 2026 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 21, in Asheville, N.C.
Coffey qualified for the national meet after putting together another strong season for the Wildcats, capping her BU career with back-to-back postseason appearances. She first secured her spot in Baker's opening meet of the outdoor season when she cleared the NAIA "B" standard with a throw of 41.99 meters at the Jayhawk Spring Fling.
The senior from Indianola, Iowa, went on to record the best throw of her career just a few weeks later with a mark of 42.02 meters at the Mule Relays. That distance ranks 25th nationally entering the championship meet.
Coffey is coming off a third-place performance in the javelin at the Heart Championships earlier this month and will look to improve on her appearance from last year's NAIA Championships, where she placed 20th overall (37.26m).
With the national meeting getting underway today (May 20), the women's javelin competition is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. (CT) on Thursday, May 21, at Karl Straus Track in Asheville, N.C.
You can watch a free live stream of the meet on the Urban Edge Network, while live results can be followed via SnapTiming.
