Stone Places Third, Wildcats Qualify Six for Nationals at 2026 Heart Championships

OSKALOOSA, Iowa - Highlighted by a third-place finish from Madeleine Stone, Baker women's wrestling had six Wildcats secure their spot at nationals and came in fifth in the team standings at the 2026 Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Wrestling Championships on Saturday.

Stone (207), Kylie Robledo (110), Chloe Herrick (117), Hailee Crosland (160), Margaret Jordan (180) and Johanna Carrasco (180) all punched their tickets to the 2026 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championships, which is set to take place on March 13-14 at Heartland Credit Union Arena in Wichita, Kan.

The Wildcats totaled a team score of 103.5 points to finish in fifth, falling just a few points behind fourth-place Central Methodist (107 points). William Penn (215) beat out five-time defending conference champion Grand View (214) by one point to claim the Heart title.

Stone was BU's highest finisher at the single-day tournament after placing third at 207 pounds. After falling in the championship semifinals, the freshman from Platte County, Mo., bounced back with a 9-2 decision win in the third-place match to earn all-conference honors.

Crosland went 2-2 in her matches to finish fourth in the 160-pound bracket, with both of her wins coming on 10-0 tech falls.

Robledo and Anna Patz each came away with fifth-place showings as Robledo pinned her opponent in the placement match, while Patz added a pair of wins at 138 pounds.

As one of three Wildcats to place sixth, Audrey Darnell rattled off three straight wins at 131 pounds, with two of her victories coming by way of a pin. Herrick and Carrasco posted the other two sixth-place finishes as Herrick won back-to-back matches in the consolation bracket and Carrasco started off her tournament with a pin.

Jordan matched her teammate Darnell with a team-best three wins in Oskaloosa, Iowa, taking seventh in a competitive 180-pound bracket and joining Carrasco as an automatic qualifier in the weight class.

As the only returner from last year's postseason squad, Robledo will be making her third trip to the NAIA Championships after qualifying in 2023 and 2025. The senior from El Paso, Texas, came a point shy of reaching the national semifinals of the championship bracket in 2023.

All five other BU national qualifiers - Carrasco, Crosland, Herrick, Jordan and Stone - will be competing for the first time at the NAIA meet.

Following the conference tournaments, a 10-member committee consisting of conference raters and oversight members will meet to select the remaining at-large qualifiers until 210 wrestlers have been selected, which will be released Tuesday, March 3rd by 5 p.m. (CST). The seeding and preliminary brackets will be announced on NAIA.org by 5 p.m. (CST) on Friday, March 6th.
