Wildcats Open 2025 Cross Country Season at Bob Timmons Classic

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Baker men's and women's cross country teams got their first taste of the 2025 season on Saturday morning at the Bob Timmons Classic, hosted by Kansas at historic Rim Rock Farm.

Competing on a nice, cool morning in Lawrence, Kan., both BU squads came in fifth in the team standings at KU's season-opening meet with the men totaling a combined time of 1:46:12.10 in the 6K race, while the women went 1:49:02.10 in the ensuing 5K race.

For the women, Haley Carter set the pace for Baker with a 17th-place finish in 20:02.81. She was followed by Ellie Barnard (28th, 21:14.86), Jana Landreth (33rd, 21:56.52), and freshman Aubrey Phillips (35th, 22:03.58) in her collegiate debut. Rounding out the Wildcats' top six were Haley Thompson (46th, 23:44.35) and Sam Slife (47th, 23:48.64).

On the men's side, Luke Persson clocked 20:39.69 for 37th place to lead BU. He was followed by a tight pack of Wildcats with Grayson Fink (43rd, 21:04.52), Cutter Meade (44th, 21:16.05), and Grant Gogis (45th, 21:26.14) finishing within 22 seconds of each other. Jaden Vohs (49th, 21:45.48), Austin Drewry (52nd, 22:09.22), and Rodree Robinson (67th, 23:59.44) completed the team's opening meet lineup.

Up next, Baker will host the first of its two home meets this fall with the Wildcat XC Classic on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 9 a.m. at the Baldwin City Golf Course.
