Wildcats Reach Century Mark vs. Culver-Stockton, Stay Unbeaten in Conference Play
CANTON, Mo. – For the fifth time in the last three seasons, the Baker men's basketball team reached the century mark, defeating Culver-Stockton on Saturday, 100-57.
Baker had 12 different players score in the game with Noah Rigatuso leading the way with 23 points, while Ahmed Mahgoub also scored 20 points. Quentin Harvey added 15 points and Korey Jones and Kaimen Lennox added 11 and 10 points as Baker shot 58.7 percent from the field.
The Wildcats dominated the glass, pulling down 46 rebounds, while holding Culver-Stockton to just 23 rebounds. 12 players also pulled down at least one rebound with Rigatuso also leading the team with eight boards. Keynan Russell did not score in the game but was a force on the glass pulling down six boards.
Baker trailed for the first eight minutes of the game, but two free throws from Mahgoub gave Baker their first lead, 13-11. The scoring did not stop there as the Wildcats opened up a commanding 24-13 lead over the next three minutes. Baker continued to add to their lead for the remainder of the first half and eventually took a 45-26 lead into halftime.
Baker kept their foot on the gas in the second half and never gave Culver-Stockton a chance to get back in the game. With 3:43 left, the Wildcats led 90-49 and Baker went to the bench for the rest of the game. The scoring did not stop as Baker tallied 10 more points in the final three minutes capped off by a three-pointer from Max Black to give Baker the 100-55 win over Culver-Stockton.
Baker is now 7-1 on the season and continues to stay unbeaten in Heart of America play at 4-0. The Wildcats will host Peru State in a rematch of last year's Heart of America Conference Tournament Championship game at 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 26th, inside the Collins Center.
