Wildcats Drop Road Matchup at William Penn

OSKALOOSA, Iowa - After a 10-day layoff, Baker men's basketball fell on the road at William Penn, 104-82, on Saturday in the final conference game of 2025 for the Wildcats.

BU ran into a tough Statesmen side that shot nearly 60 percent in the first half (18-for-31) and scored 50 points in both frames to keep their perfect home record intact.

While WPU shot lights out in the first half, Baker went 12-for-33 and made just six baskets inside the arc, but shot at a solid mark from three (6-for-16). The Statesmen (23) logged almost twice as many free throws as BU (12) and had 44-32 advantage in bench points.

Myles Tucker led the Wildcats with 24 points, while Cam Jones added a productive outing with 17 points and seven rebounds. Jimmy Dorsey (15) and Luke McDonald (10) each reached double figures as well with Dorsey draining three 3-pointers.

A three from big-man Lucas Lyons opened up the scoring for the Heart matchup before Dorsey and Jones teamed up for a pair of treys a little bit later. After William Penn started to build a lead, Tucker and Ethan Viets connected on back-to-back threes to bring BU within one at 22-21.

The Statesmen were able to work up their first double-digit lead in the final eight minutes of the first half, going in front by as much as 17, while Tucker and Jones accounted for the scoring for BU. A pair of free throws from Tucker closed out Baker's opening half as William Penn took a 54-38 halftime lead.

In the second half, Carter Trumbore sank consecutive 3-pointers as the Wildcats looked to counter WPU's high-scoring first half, but the Statesmen continued to deliver brutal blows, tallying four threes in the first five minutes to push their lead past 20 points.

McDonald turned a steal into a breakaway layup to make it 80-63 with 7:25 left to play, the closest the margin would be for the rest of the way. Meanwhile, William Penn cleared the century mark for the fourth time this season and closed out its fourth conference win of the season.

With one game left before the holiday break, Baker will take on No. 5 Langston on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Guthrie, Okla.
